EasyPC Netbook – Review

Menq has a line of netbooks called EasyPC. EasyPCs are designed to be easy to use while affordable, and the Chinese manufacturer has done just that.
Sporting Windows CE 5.0 on a display resolution of 800×480, the EasyPC E790 can handle DivX files, YouTube videos, Skype, and web browsing on a shaved down Internet Explorer. It comes with 2 GB of storage and 128MB of RAM on a 533 MHz Samsung ARM Processor.
When I opened the lid, it took a few seconds to find the power button (bottom-right side of the monitor), but once I did, the desktop immediately came up. The touchpad is a bit difficult to use, but with three USB ports, a mouse will be a good investment. The keyboard is very compact and can be difficult to touch type, but for the target audience of “hunt and peck” typists, it should be sufficient. Using it is a bit slow, but for the price and its intended use, it’s quite acceptable. With Android, it goes for $89, but with user-friendly Windows CE, it sells for $149.
