OK Governor Endorses Barack Obama

Uncategorized - No Comments » - Posted on April, 25 at 2:55 pm

Brad Henry just endorsed Barack Obama. Big whoop, right? WRONG!

Oklahoma voted, along with many, on Super Duper Tuesday, but according to Gov. Henry, he doesn’t have to agree with his people (say goodbye to reelection Brad). In the primary, Hillary Clinton won (as shown in picture), but Brad Henry decided the voters don’t count.

okprimary This is America! Shouldn’t this actually be a democracy instead of a tribal council? He was elected democratically, why can’t he elect somebody else the same way?

Now, if Hillary had won by, say, 1%, I could see him going either way, but Hillary won by about 25%. Over half of Oklahoma wanted Hillary.I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong.

Maybe Not.

Spambot cracks Hotmail’s, Gmail’s CAPTCHA

Uncategorized - No Comments » - Posted on April, 15 at 7:54 pm

I haven’t made a post in a while, I’ve been working on the new site (:D) but forgot to post. :(
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080415-gone-in-60-seconds-spambot-cracks-livehotmail-captcha.html

Are we typing those 6-9 letters and symbols that half the time you can’t read for nothing?
At the moment, it appears so. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, and what’s next - US Government Security details? Ok, so I may be going overboard, but this is crazy. After 17 years of spam, everybody has a filter, a spam box, and never reads the emails. Still these nutcases make a bot to crack the Image Verification, then send a million messages to us. Recently, I changed regular emails, got a new “fake” one, and yet I get spam. I’m sick of it! Well, enough of my rant, I’ll give you some of the article:

:
Internet users are quite familiar with the Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA), a quick method that verifies whether or not the user trying to sign up is a person or a bot. A picture with swirled, mangled, or otherwise distorted characters is displayed and the user then types in the correct letters or numbers.

Back in early February, a group cracked Windows Live Hotmail’s CAPTCHA. A few weeks later, Gmail’s version followed suit. In just over a month’s time, some anti-spam vendors were forced to completely block the domain for the popular service as bots signed up for thousands of bogus accounts and began to flood the tubes with e-mail advertisements for lottery tickets and watches. The close proximity of the two cracks has done everything but sealed CAPTCHA’s fate.

In one day, the bot can amass at least 1,440 accounts. And that’s just one bot. This same bot can then send spam to multiple e-mail addresses (using both CC and BCC lists) continuously, switching between accounts (both in the from: and to: fields) in order to lower the chance of being spotted.
:

I thought about using CAPTCHA, but I guess I’ll go sit under a rock and start thinking.

Until next time,

Abit Motherboard

Uncategorized - No Comments » - Posted on April, 2 at 7:27 pm

I recently purchased an ABIT IP13-E mobo (motherboard).
I wasn’t sure what to push to access the BIOS, so I emailed them, despite hearing numerous warnings of slow responses if you even get one. Well, just one day later, I get an email explaining my situation’s fix. I am taken back by how fast it was! You should use ABIT if you buy a mobo.

T-Mobile sues Engadget

Uncategorized - No Comments » - Posted on March, 31 at 7:26 pm

http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/31/deutsche-telekom-t-mobile-demands-engadget-mobile-discontinue/

Obviously, T-Mobile has a socalled trademark on the color magenta…
So They sued Engadget!
The way I see it, they couldn’t sue you unless:
You’re using “their” magenta
You’re using it to sell, distribute, or advertise a telecommunications product
The way you’re using it is likely to deceive or confuse consumers into thinking T-Mobile is somehow involved.
Now, to analyze that last part, a court would balance out several factors, including:
The strength of T-Mobile’s magenta trademark — how distinctive it is
The similarity of your use to T-Mobile’s use
The similarity of your products
Whether or not people are actually confused
Whether or not you’re straight-up trying to trick people into thinking you’re affiliated with T-Mobile
The sophistication of consumers in the telecommunications market
So… Yeah.
Y’know what? I’m going to slap a trademark on So… Yeah.
So I guess it’s So… Yeah.™
So… Yeah.™

Here’s Hope

I found this link, I thought I should share it with you all. :)

This is my first miscellaneous post!

Update!

Uncategorized - 2 Comments » - Posted on March, 24 at 6:24 pm

Wow! A new site sounds exciting, but I’m in a bind (or a pickle or a… you get the point).
I am making this “community” site, which will complete cms07 4.0, which could be at the url community.cms07.org or maybe theplace.cms07.org (why not? ;) ) but I need some user feedback, if you please.
What name is better:
The Place
CMS07 Community
I can’t think of more… give me an idea

What content would you like to see? I will focuse on 1 or 2 things, so majority (or superiority) rules.

Anyhoo, I need to get started more, so feedback would be nice.

Operating System

Uncategorized - No Comments » - Posted on March, 22 at 1:54 pm

I see alot of people bashing on Vista. Quite frankly, I’m tired of it.

First off, Vista is more secure than XP and Mac OS X. The UAC (User account control) may be a little trigger happy, but it works. And Vista just had SP1 released.a

Second, it is compatable with almost EVERYTHING. I have a game called Civilization 4, supposedly not working with Vista, it works just like on XP, but better! Don’t say it won’t work, because it will.

Finally, people say it’s bad, and almost always when asked if they own Vista, they say “no”! How would they know it’s bad?

Drop me a comment.

Processor Wars Heat Up

Uncategorized - No Comments » - Posted on March, 19 at 11:18 pm

After months of delays, Advanced Micro Devices’ quad-core Barcelona chip will become generally available in April, but a newly announced six-core processor developed by rival Intel will force AMD to play catchup once again.

Intel on Monday said a six-core processor code-named Dunnington will be available in the second half of this year. AMD, meanwhile, will ship Barcelona to partners later this month, making it broadly available from resellers sometime in April, AMD vice president of commercial business Kevin Knox told Network World this week.

“Barcelona is a step up but it’s really too late,” says Gartner analyst Martin Reynolds. “They needed Barcelona in the second half of last year.”

Barcelona, the code name for AMD’s newest Opteron processor, is in limited availability and being used mostly in high-performance computing facilities such as the Texas Advanced Computing Center and the Holland Computing Center at the University of Nebraska.

AMD initially planned general availability for the end of 2007, but AMD held back after discovering a problem at high-stress workloads. “We went ahead and fixed it in the silicon,” Knox says. “Systems would hang for certain things, virtualization wasn’t performing properly. It wasn’t data corruption.”

Intel has had quad-core Xeon processors on the market since early 2007 and in September unveiled the Xeon 7300 quad-core chips, which are designed for high-end servers with four or more processors.

Even with Barcelona hitting general availability, AMD’s performance lags behind Intel in processor speed and bandwidth utilization rates, according to Reynolds. “It’s going to be Intel winning the performance battle for the next year and a half,” he says. “But you can never count out AMD and we’ll see what they deliver in 2009.”

Knox says AMD’s newest chip will deliver better performance than Intel, and that new instructions at the chip level will enable virtualized workloads to operate more efficiently on the processor. Customers will see a sizable improvement in price performance per watt, he says.

“We’ve gone from dual to quad-core while maintaining the same thermal envelope,” Knox says. “This is more than just quad-core. It is a significant re-architecture of Opteron, the most significant since we’ve introduced it.”

HP will be among the first resellers to take advantage of Barcelona. The vendor announced on Monday that an eight-socket x86 server using the quad-core AMD processors will be available from HP in May. (Compare server products.)

Dell, Sun, and IBM are among the other vendors preparing servers based on the new quad-core processors, according to Knox. “You’ll see a fair number of systems on the market in April,” he says.

Being late to the quad-core market poses challenges, but Knox says he’s confident. “There’s always the challenge that [Intel's] the incumbent in the four-way market,” he says. “We think in some ways it’s a good thing, in some ways it’s a bad thing. They’ve certainly raised awareness of quad-core.”
What Intel Is Up To

Intel’s next move is to raise awareness of six-core. While an eight-core server might have seemed like the next logical step, Reynolds notes that there’s no technical reason to double the number of cores every time. Intel said its Dunnington processor will support FlexMigration virtualization technology, which creates a pool of virtualized resources that can be moved across multiple types of Intel servers.

Intel also discussed several other multi-core projects in the works, including a new Itanium processor code-named “Tukwila,” a quad-core chip for high-performance computing. Tukwila “is the world’s first 2 billion transistor microprocessor and is projected to deliver more than double the performance of the current generation Itanium processor,” Intel states in a fact sheet released Monday.

Another future processor discussed by Intel is Nehalem, which would have between two and eight cores and have four times as much memory bandwidth as today’s highest-performing Xeon systems. The Nehalem processor architecture will eventually be used in everything from notebook computers to high-performance servers, according to Intel.

Intel also said it’s investing in technologies that will accommodate next-generation game systems with better graphics and game controllers that respond to human motion, as well as medical imaging sensors that give doctors real-time information about patients during computer-guided operations.
