T-Mobile sues Engadget

Posted by admin on March 31st, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/31/deutsche-telekom-t-mobile-demands-engadget-mobile-discontinue/

Obviously, T-Mobile has a socalled trademark on the color magenta…
So They sued Engadget!
The way I see it, they couldn’t sue you unless:
You’re using “their” magenta
You’re using it to sell, distribute, or advertise a telecommunications product
The way you’re using it is likely to deceive or confuse consumers into thinking T-Mobile is somehow involved.
Now, to analyze that last part, a court would balance out several factors, including:
The strength of T-Mobile’s magenta trademark — how distinctive it is
The similarity of your use to T-Mobile’s use
The similarity of your products
Whether or not people are actually confused
Whether or not you’re straight-up trying to trick people into thinking you’re affiliated with T-Mobile
The sophistication of consumers in the telecommunications market
So… Yeah.
Y’know what? I’m going to slap a trademark on So… Yeah.
So I guess it’s So… Yeah.™
So… Yeah.™

Update!

Posted by admin on March 24th, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

Wow! A new site sounds exciting, but I’m in a bind (or a pickle or a… you get the point).
I am making this “community” site, which will complete cms07 4.0, which could be at the url community.cms07.org or maybe theplace.cms07.org (why not? ;) ) but I need some user feedback, if you please.
What name is better:
The Place
CMS07 Community
I can’t think of more… give me an idea

What content would you like to see? I will focuse on 1 or 2 things, so majority (or superiority) rules.

Anyhoo, I need to get started more, so feedback would be nice.

Operating System

Posted by admin on March 22nd, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

I see alot of people bashing on Vista. Quite frankly, I’m tired of it.

First off, Vista is more secure than XP and Mac OS X. The UAC (User account control) may be a little trigger happy, but it works. And Vista just had SP1 released.a

Second, it is compatable with almost EVERYTHING. I have a game called Civilization 4, supposedly not working with Vista, it works just like on XP, but better! Don’t say it won’t work, because it will.

Finally, people say it’s bad, and almost always when asked if they own Vista, they say “no”! How would they know it’s bad?

Drop me a comment.

Posted by admin on March 20th, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

It seems today, if you want to make images or edit photos, you have to plunk down $1k for Photoshop, Pay $200+ for MS office or more for other products.

Here’s the list of my favorite FREE applications:

1. The GIMP

Why pay way too much for photo manipulation? Get the GIMP for free.

2. AVG Free
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0
It’s the best Anti Virus Program, Period, and it’s for free.

3. Windows Defender
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Anti Virus needs anti spyware right? Get Windows Defender.

4. Pidgin
http://www.pidgin.im/
It’s the best of the IM protocals.

5. Windows Live Messenger

Processor Wars Heat Up

Posted by admin on March 19th, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,143581/article.html
After months of delays, Advanced Micro Devices’ quad-core Barcelona chip will become generally available in April, but a newly announced six-core processor developed by rival Intel will force AMD to play catchup once again.

Intel on Monday said a six-core processor code-named Dunnington will be available in the second half of this year. AMD, meanwhile, will ship Barcelona to partners later this month, making it broadly available from resellers sometime in April, AMD vice president of commercial business Kevin Knox told Network World this week.

“Barcelona is a step up but it’s really too late,” says Gartner analyst Martin Reynolds. “They needed Barcelona in the second half of last year.”

Barcelona, the code name for AMD’s newest Opteron processor, is in limited availability and being used mostly in high-performance computing facilities such as the Texas Advanced Computing Center and the Holland Computing Center at the University of Nebraska.

AMD initially planned general availability for the end of 2007, but AMD held back after discovering a problem at high-stress workloads. “We went ahead and fixed it in the silicon,” Knox says. “Systems would hang for certain things, virtualization wasn’t performing properly. It wasn’t data corruption.”

Intel has had quad-core Xeon processors on the market since early 2007 and in September unveiled the Xeon 7300 quad-core chips, which are designed for high-end servers with four or more processors.

Even with Barcelona hitting general availability, AMD’s performance lags behind Intel in processor speed and bandwidth utilization rates, according to Reynolds. “It’s going to be Intel winning the performance battle for the next year and a half,” he says. “But you can never count out AMD and we’ll see what they deliver in 2009.”

Knox says AMD’s newest chip will deliver better performance than Intel, and that new instructions at the chip level will enable virtualized workloads to operate more efficiently on the processor. Customers will see a sizable improvement in price performance per watt, he says.

“We’ve gone from dual to quad-core while maintaining the same thermal envelope,” Knox says. “This is more than just quad-core. It is a significant re-architecture of Opteron, the most significant since we’ve introduced it.”

HP will be among the first resellers to take advantage of Barcelona. The vendor announced on Monday that an eight-socket x86 server using the quad-core AMD processors will be available from HP in May. (Compare server products.)

Dell, Sun, and IBM are among the other vendors preparing servers based on the new quad-core processors, according to Knox. “You’ll see a fair number of systems on the market in April,” he says.

Being late to the quad-core market poses challenges, but Knox says he’s confident. “There’s always the challenge that [Intel's] the incumbent in the four-way market,” he says. “We think in some ways it’s a good thing, in some ways it’s a bad thing. They’ve certainly raised awareness of quad-core.”
What Intel Is Up To

Intel’s next move is to raise awareness of six-core. While an eight-core server might have seemed like the next logical step, Reynolds notes that there’s no technical reason to double the number of cores every time. Intel said its Dunnington processor will support FlexMigration virtualization technology, which creates a pool of virtualized resources that can be moved across multiple types of Intel servers.

Intel also discussed several other multi-core projects in the works, including a new Itanium processor code-named “Tukwila,” a quad-core chip for high-performance computing. Tukwila “is the world’s first 2 billion transistor microprocessor and is projected to deliver more than double the performance of the current generation Itanium processor,” Intel states in a fact sheet released Monday.

Another future processor discussed by Intel is Nehalem, which would have between two and eight cores and have four times as much memory bandwidth as today’s highest-performing Xeon systems. The Nehalem processor architecture will eventually be used in everything from notebook computers to high-performance servers, according to Intel.

Intel also said it’s investing in technologies that will accommodate next-generation game systems with better graphics and game controllers that respond to human motion, as well as medical imaging sensors that give doctors real-time information about patients during computer-guided operations.

How to get started making web sites

Posted by admin on March 19th, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

Now a days, everybody wants some kind of website.
The point of this topic is to help YOU get started in web production.

First off, you want to develop an idea what you want your site to be about, or rather, do you want a forum, blog, hard coded site, gallery, etc. To simplify this, I will include many common ideas.

For anything, you need to sign up for a web host. A reliable web host is FateHost
For most scripts and sites, you need a MySQL database. You can make one in the marked section in the User Control Panel.

>>For a Forum<<
Now that you have did that small chore, you can install your forum. There are many forum programs, but two stand out from the crowd: phpBB and Simple Machines Forum (or SMF).
If you use either one, and you are on FateHost, you can mozy (that’s an old word for move) on over to the 1 click Application Installer and select which forum you want and install it. You can then edit every nook and cranny of your forum in the administration panel.

>>For a blog<<
There is one forum software that just flat out works, from head to toe.
WordPress can be installed in the 1 Click Application Installer, select WordPress and install it. You can then edit every nook and cranny of your blog.

>>For a hard coded site - For adventurous people<<
If you want a hard coded site, you will need to either use Komposer or another WYSIWYG (Google it), or learn HTML.
If you want to go the HTML route, go to http://w3schools.com/PHP/default.asp and begin the adventure.
If not, go download a WYSIWG and begin designing.
Finally, upload the files using the File Manager.

If you want more help, either go to the FateHost forum and post, or go to the cms07 forum and post your question. (We/I) (are/am) glad to help you.
Thanks for reading,

Spyware Removal - MyWebSearch Toolbar

Posted by admin on March 16th, 2008 filed in Uncategorized

I recently came across a program called MyWebSearch. I thought it was part of a download. After researching it, I found out it just tacked-on a program. To my amazement, it got past Norton, AVG, and Windows Defender. :o Well, it was a hijacker. It took pages to its variant, even set the default search to MyWebSearch. This thing was nasty. It buries it self to so many different places making it virtually impossible to delete. You delete a file, think it’s done, open up IE and it duplicates it :o !
Well, I really have been trying to get a solution. After some more research, I found BHODemon, which doesn’t delete files, but disables the .DLL

The solution is to download BHODemon. Since the author no longer supports it (because of a house fire), you can download it below, or go to http://search.cms07.org and Web Search “BHODemon Download” without the quotes.

Hope this helped somebody…
